What Is E-Scanner?
E-Scanner is a revolutionary scanner streaming service that allows each individual user to customize their experience. Client-end customization allows for each subscriber to tailor the application to their specific needs! Each subscriber can control who they monitor, access past transmissions, and much more! The E-Scanner service is accessible via Web Browser on any device, or by utilizing the RDIO Scanner interface, available for download on the Apple App Store & Google Play Store!
What Makes E-Scanner Different?
Traditional "Police Scanner" style apps or services use a network of scanners, connected via internet, to provide audio, processed and produced by these scanners, to its users. While this solution does provide easy access to monitor public safety radio to the general public, it lacks user customization. If the scanner feed for the area you want to monitor scans all services (i.e. Fire, Police, EMS, DPW), but you only want to monitor one service at a time, you're forced to listen to everything on that feed and you can't customize your monitoring experience.
E-Scanner was designed with its users in mind. We took the traditional online scanning experience, identified its strengths and weaknesses, and designed our service to fill the gaps that other services may not be able to fill. Using a network of strategically placed receiver sites and advanced Software Defined Radio technology, E-Scanner is able to provide you similar, if not better, coverage compared to other services, all while providing its users with a customizable scanning experience that is unparalleled in the region (if not the whole state!)

As mentioned above, traditional scanner streaming services have limited features, limited customization, and receive quality can vary depending on the host providing the scanner feed to the network. Physical scanners that are on the market to be purchased, while capable and feature rich, can be very expensive and reception is dependent on your physical location, as well as geography of the area. E-Scanner is a subscription service that allows its users access to all the same customization of a physical scanner & the convenience of a streaming service, without compromising any of its features. Using a dedicated network of receiver sites placed throughout the region, signal & audio quality remain loud and clear, regardless of the user's physical location!

If two or more channels have traffic on them at the same time, E-Scanner will queue and playback the transmissions in the order they were received, so there is no missed communications!
How Does E-Scanner Work?
Traditional scanner streaming services rely on hardware scanners to receive, decode, process and convert radio transmissions into audio that is then sent over the internet to the users of the service. Hardware scanners may also miss transmissions due to the fact that, if one channel has traffic on it while another has traffic simultaneously, one channel may be missed as the scanner is only focused on the other channel. This method provides ONLY audio to the end user, does not provide extensive information and has the potential to miss a transmission.
E-Scanner uses Software receivers that receive, decode, process and convert radio into audio, while also converting the data from that transmission into usable information. E-Scanner users receive the captured audio, as well as all of the data from the transmission (i.e. frequency, unit ID, talkgroup ID, etc). E-Scanner's use of software receivers also allows for us to enable our clients to individually control what they monitor, and ensure to never miss a transmission since our receivers capture everything simultaneously.

Niagara Signal Radio Solutions has partnered with RDIO Scanner, by Chrystian Huot, to bring you our E-Scanner service. RDIO Scanner is the User Interface [UI] that E-Scanner uses to connect our users to our network of receivers. RDIO is what allows us to provide you with the features we mentioned such as 90 day archives, instant playback and more!
